My first acting experience I gained (of course) during the time with the Vienna Choir Boys, where we always used to have a little operetta in our concert program. Also it was part of our duties to do the occasional part in the Vienna Opera House, whenever kids were needed for the performance. I enjoyed this play-acting, costumes and all, very much. During summer 1961 the Walt Disney Productions made a movie with us boys. The English title was "Almost Angels", the German title was "Ein Gruss aus Wien". This was the first time I got in close touch with the filming business and experiencing all the activities around it. Strange proceedings I did not always quite understand and yet I got very excited about it. This gave birth to the wish to get further involved with it when I grow older.

Meine ersten Erfahrungen mit dem Schauspielen machte ich natuerlich waehrend der Zeit bei den Wiener Saengerknaben, da wir bei unseren Konzertprogrammen immer eine kleine Spieloper dabei hatten. Ausserdem war es Teil unserer allgemeinen Aufgaben in der Wiener Staatsoper aufzutreten, wann immer Kinder fuer die Auffuehrungen benoetigt wurden. Mir hat das immer sehr gefallen, das Spielen mit den Kostuemen und all dem Drum und Dran. Im Sommer 1961 produzierten die Walt Disney Productions einen Spielfilm mit uns Buben. Der englische Titel war "Almost Angels", der deutsche "Ein Gruss aus Wien". Dies war mein erster direkter Kontakt mit dem Filmgeschaeft und Erfahrung mit all den Taetigkeiten an der Peripherie. Eigenartig anmutende Aktivitaeten, die ich nicht alle gleich verstand, die aber reges Interesse in mir weckten. Da war mein Wunsch geboren, mich naeher damit zu befassen, wenn ich aelter werde.

Later on at school, working with the theatre group was my most favoured pasttime. Of course it did not improve my marks I received for the other subjects...it was strictly voluntary, but we used to give a performance every year at the end of the school year.

So, as time goes on I find myself acting (up) again and again and I dare say, I'll never get bored with it!

Spaeter dann in der Schule waren die Nachmittage mit der Theatergruppe meine liebste Freizeitbeschaeftigung. Natuerlich habe ich damit meine restlichen Noten nicht verbessert...es war auf rein freiwilliger Basis, aber pro Schuljahr hatten wir immer eine Auffuehrung zu Schulschluss.

Und wie die Zeit so vergeht spiele ich (mich) immer wieder (auf), und muss zugeben, dass es mich nie langweilen wird.
